This is a drama set in 1937 about a Westerner who finds refuge with a group of women in a church during Japan's rape of Nanking, the film is directed by Yimou Zhang and stars Christian Bale, Ni Ni and Xinyi Zhang. I liked this film and I think it is worth seeing in the theaters. I have read the book “The rape of Nanking” and I know the terrible story and the events that took place in Nanking so it was really interesting for me to watch this film. The film looks spectacular and I loved the way the director told the story and of course Christian Bale was absolutely amazing. The film is definitely violent and I usually do not like that but i did not mind this time because it needs to be known how awful the rape of Nanking was.
